Marta Romero, born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, was an actress and singer best known for her work on television at the onset of TV production in Puerto Rico in the 1950s and 1960s. "Marta Romero Canta," recorded and released in 1963, is her recording LP debut, showcasing her sweet and powerful vocals along with the incredible arrangements from Anibal Herrero and his orchestra. For this album Marta herself selected the compositions, including compositions from fellow Puerto Rican female musicians, Myrta Silva and Sylvia Rexach. The album is rich with sweeping boleros, but also includes a Fox Canción and a Rumba Twist.
